Musical theatre
At the beginning of the class we were tested on the set up of a stage. I drew a diagram of how I know the stage is set up. My diagram looked like this and also included the stage left and right wings.

For musical theatre workshop we are going to be performing ‘One Short Day’ from the musical Wicked. We first had to audition for the 2 main roles of Elphaba and Glinda. As my other class mates performed I had to take notes of good things they did and give constructive criticism to help them improve.  I auditioned with the song “Breathe’ from the musical in the heights. I had positive feedback from both my teacher and class mates and I was cast as the role of Elphaba.

After this audition process we started to work on the routine. We practiced the routine, our teacher giving us corrections and tips as we went along. Once the section of the routine we had been working on was more polished we decided to record it to keep track of our progress and see how we improve week- week.

Project workshop
at the start of the lesson we began by warming up we walked around the room at different speeds in order to loosen up a limbs this also made us aware of the space that we were working in. We then we split off into pairs and created a piece with five different moves, I was partnered with Alex. Once we finished our sequence we were partnered with another pair to combine our pieces. myself, Alex, Rina and Sonnah created a piece about a party. We used big over exaggerated movements and used moments of slow motion and contact to emphasise the movements. This exercise taught me about contact with other performers and spatial awareness.

In groups we discussed what a balanced diet is and how much are each food group you need to eat to have a balanced diet. We then made posters about when you should eat certain food to gain the most energy. We were then told that for the next lesson we would need to bring a food pyramid displaying what food you should eat.

Project workshop
We began the lesson by playing group games to enforce corporation. We then moved on to shaping Shoaling in flocking in groups this helps to build upon teamwork and corporation. We were then put into partners and I was partnered with Ghazall. Me and Ghazall did some trust exercises involving contact to encourage safe and sensible work together.

Acting
We warmed up by stretching out our face and working on briefing we didn’t exercise but we pretended to chew a toffee, this help to loosen up our face muscles and get us ready for acting. we then played a game of two truths one lie to work on being convincing when acting. We then put into groups I was in a group with Leah, Alex, Valeria and myself, we made a piece about bullying. The piece was devised, which was great practice as it made us use our brains and come up with our own ideas and movement. We performed the piece of the class and received good feedback.

Project workshop
This lesson we worked on intentions using body movement. We warmed up by walking around the room in different ways within different scenarios. For example we pretended to run through mod sand and rain to give our body different barriers to go through. This helped us work on imagination, control and spatial awareness. We were then asked to create a solo piece using Labans and efforts and his shape theory which we previously learnt about which we had previously learnt about. I created a piece about going on holiday, at first it began very basic with small minimalistic movements and I slowly abstracted it using the 5th° of abstraction. my movements quickly became more exaggerated and larger giving my piece more impact.

We started the lesson by making posters in groups I was in a group with Tilly and Alex and we made a poster about grains. Will you stop poster talk about healthy diet and how much about specific food group we need to maintain a healthy diet.We were then told to monitor a diet for a week and keep a food diary noting down every snack and meal and drink we have we were then told to monitor on a diet for a week and keep a food diary noting down every snack and meal and drink we have.

Acting
We began the lesson by warming up in the same way we do every week, but this time adding an extra exercise tongue twisters.Around five tongue twisters just stretch your tongue and face muscles, so that we were warmed up and ready for acting. we were then given the script for the Greek play ‘Medea’.We read through the script as a whole class, then we stayed in a circle and each person picked one word from the text that stood out. We then went around the circle and each person shouted the word with an emotion to match the context behind the word. for example: my word was hysterical so I shouted the word and waved my arms in the air. we did this to help us understand the meaning behind each word and give us a deeper understanding of the text. We will then put into groups of three and four lines on the script in front of the class, I was in a group with Leah and Nemy. We read our lines clearly with emotion behind each word but for next time we need to make sure we practice it more and add movement.

Project workshop
This lesson we wound up by recapping Labans eight efforts and using them in a piece.  I was partnered with Tilly and we created a piece about an abusive relationship using Labans eight efforts in each eight movements. we performed our pieces to the class and me and Tilly received all positive feedback, our only correction being to make each movement slightly sharper.  We then re-capped our journeys we had created the previous lesson and we joined to make partners.  I was partnered with Bethany and we combined our pieces to create a piece about going to school. We added in moments of slow motion, unison, one point of contact, and climax in the piece.  this gave a piece of clear beginning middle and end structure, and also made each moment more impactful.

Musical theatre
We warmed up by singing through one short day and perfected the harmonies.  we then developed our characters in partners, I was partnered with Marshall and we had to make an improv scene, using our characters characteristics as a guide. After this we developed the one short day routine and cleaned what had done in previous weeks.

Singing
This lesson we warmed up in our usual way with you every week; breathing, vowels and Do Ray Mi. We then went on to practice one short day until the end of the lesson.

Project workshop
We warmed up by walking around the room to loosen up and get focused by stopping and starting, whilst walking and running around the space. We then started working on our induction performance. We were put into a big clump in the middle of the room and taught and jump/ clap movement sequence in cannon, to show the lively atmosphere of a party. This proved too difficult and looked messy so we decided to remove the cannon. We were then put into pairs and told to brainstorm/ devise a movement scene with 6 lines of text, that mirrors a scenario that could happen at a party. I was partnered with Sonnah and we discussed how our characters will interact and their relationship at the party.

To begin the lesson we had a quiz to recap on what we been learning in the previous lessons about health and safety within the studio.  after the quiz we talked about why we Walmart and how woman that gets ready for an activity. I made a mind map with my ideas about warming up and why we do it. We were then told that we were to make a warmup for the whole class specifically tailored to one area of dance, I chose to make a warmup about tap.

Project workshop
We warmed up by going straight into a rehearsal for the induction party piece and developing our partner work. We polished what we previously done the week before and combined the group piece with our partner piece. We then practised how we would transition between the two pieces and combined them together.

Acting
we began the lesson by warming up in the same way we do every week by stretching a face and doing some tongue twisters. We then put into groups for our induction piece of the Greek play ‘Medea’. I was put into a group with Leah, Nemy, Alex and Tilly, each person selected lines from the text and we developed a some movement for the 1st paragraph. We were told to learn our lines and practice what we done, before the lesson finished our group and the other group combined our pieces to form the full scene we had been given from the play.

4/10/18
Musical theatre
At the beginning of the lesson we practised and polished what we had already learnt of the routine.  We then went into full rehearsal mode and completely finished the dance, including with mania section and final chorus. We then practised the routine a few times and were told to practise together in any spare time we had to prepare for the performance.

8/09/18
Project workshop
We didn’t warmup this lesson instead we went into rehearsal and practised our induction performance and polish the scene to make the dialogue fit within each performance and so that no one blocked or cut of anyone’s lines.

10/10/18
Performances
We watched the other performing arts performances and performed our own 3 pieces to the group. Our pieces went really well and I was also very impressed with the standard and skill of the other performing arts groups.

11/10/18
Musical theatre
We began the lesson by talking about colleges, tips and tricks for auditions and discussed being a triple threat. We then discussed our performance the previous day and picked 3 strengths and 3 weaknesses. After this we got into 3s, I was with Marshall and Sonnah and we created a musical theatre performance of ‘I don’t dance’ from HSM. Our only negative feed back was to sing up more but overall we got a good reaction and positive feed back.

Singing
We did our usual warm up and then discussed our performance and how we could improve for next time. As a group we need to work on projection. We then finished by singing Titanium, Stand by me, Somewhere and Do Ray Mi.
